I like her so much that when I was staying at Wynn I still wanted her as my therapist so I had to cover the cost of her time to come to Wynn though during subsequent treatments I wasn't charged. If you want treatments when the Encore Spa is open (hopefully it will be 7 days a week in April when the hotel is open 7 days a week) she would be available. Her last name starts with a "Z" so you should ask for "Nicole Z." She is not yet back full time but you can request her. With the wet areas currently being closed that advantage of the Encore spa becomes irrelevant.īut, my favorite therapist anywhere is Nicole. Those areas are closed during Covid but they may open by the time of your trip, in which case I would prefer Encore. The Wynn spa is gorgeous and was recently renovated but it is smaller than the Encore spa, which has bigger wet areas. I love both spas but Encore is my favorite day spa in the COUNTRY, not just in Vegas. (It includes a hot oil massage of the hair and scalp.) My favorite is the Nalu Body Ritual but there are aspects of it that require guests to use the shower in the treatment area and that is not permitted now with Covid so the treatment is currently off the menu. It's also a great treatment as it is a combination of different treatments. Typically I like to get that treatment or another at the beginning of my trip for, well, good luck. Fertitta had the budget motel demolished and has announced plans for a luxury integrated resort.Yes, I have had the Good Luck Ritual. Texas billionaire Tilman Fertitta, who owns five Golden Nugget casinos in the US and who, this week, bought the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe, last year paid $270 million for the 6.2-acre property directly north of Gindi’s Hawaiian Marketplace.įertitta’s Strip frontage is where a Travelodge motel stood for almost 60 years before its closure following its 2022 sale. Gindi Capital’s move forward with a new retail center on the Las Vegas Strip comes in conjunction with another major project being finalized next door. But those days are no more, as Gindi Capital is clearing the way for a more upscale retail complex. Three of those destinations, Aria Resort & Casino, Aria Sky Suites, and the Waldorf Astoria (previously the Mandarin Oriental), are located in Cit圜enter, directly across the Strip from where this week’s demolitions occurred.ĭespite being centrally located across from the Strip’s glitziest properties, Hawaiian Marketplace and Cable Center Shops catered to more budget-conscious tourists walking up and down S. Las Vegas had six properties deemed Five Diamond Hotels by AAA in 2022. Hawaiian Marketplace, which was shuttered last July, is also set for demolition. Gindi additionally owns the Hawaiian Marketplace, another rundown retail complex just north of where the Cable Center Shops stood. Gindi acquired the Cable Center Shops and neighboring eateries in 2019 for $172 million. The ownership group is Gindi Capital, a privately held New York investment firm that specializes in real estate development and retail projects. The Cable Center Shops, a small retail strip mall, along with an adjacent Fatburger, Mediterranean restaurant, and an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ joint, were recently leveled by the properties’ owner. In what many outsiders might be surprised to learn hasn’t happened sooner, a rundown, low-key strip mall and outdoor food court located in the center of the Strip has finally been demolished. The Aria and Cosmopolitan tower is in the background across the Strip, looking north along S. Demolition crews work on the property that previously housed the Cable Center Shops on the Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Strip is in a constant state of flux and more big changes are in store for the heart of the most famous casino drag on Earth.
